Ayuuk (Mije of San Juan Guichicovi, Juchitan, Oaxaca)

I have carried out some preliminary work on the documentation of the Ayuk (Mije, Mije-Sokean) of the town of San Juan Guichicovi, located in the Juchitan district of Oaxaca, Mexico.  So far my work has focused on lexical elicitations (plants, animals), and key aspects of the inflectional and derivational morphology, primarily with one native speaker consultant, Don Cecilio Felipe Martínez.  The work is a continuation of work conducted by Giulia Oliverio, under the supervision of Terrence Kaufman, as part of the Project for the Documentation of the Languages of Mesoamerica.
