We have had the pleasure and honor of hosting Dr. Nicholas Hopkins these past few days. Dr. Hopkins gave a lecture on the history of Mayan linguistics and Mayan epigraphy on Friday, August 27th, and is giving a lecture on the historical linguistics of Mesoamerica this Monday, August 30th, Dey 203, at 11 am. Can’t think of a better way to start the semester. These talks were sponsored by the Institute for the Study of the Americas and the Center for Global Initiatives.
